Integrative Nutrition Health Tips
The foundation of health for humans requires we address 5 areas of our lives. These areas would be sleep, control stress, nutrition, movement, and connection with others in our community.
Sleep-One should aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night. This should be good quality restful sleep.
Control Stress- Our aim here is not to eliminate stress but to control it. We need to control stress not just to be healthy but to thrive and be able to focus and achieve our goals. Some stress is good for us especially if we can be grateful for the growth potential it presents us.
Nutrition-High quality food is information for our body. This will allow us to nourish our bodies at the cellular level. We have many organ systems and those systems are made up of cells. We want to keep as many cells functioning at their highest level to give us energy to think, move and repair our body. This would include eating a rainbow of colored plant foods every day with the addition of healthy protein and healthy fats.
Movement-Any type of movement that one enjoys is fine. It could be dancing, gardening, walking, swimming, playing tennis, or yoga to name just a few. We are built to move. Sitting is the new smoking.
Connection-We are social beings. When we connect to others by sharing our gifts, volunteering or enjoying a social visit we are giving ourselves an activity that improves our health.
